Meet Les Patterson
A scattering of Lego blocks...
That is what sparked the creative fire in Les Patterson, owner and Creative Director of Falcon Innovation Group in Guelph Ontario Canada. Today that fire has evolved into an inferno that feeds his desire and ability to help his clients build their brands through a variety of communication pieces.
Colourful plastic bits were not the only catalysts to that vivid imagination. His parents were also very creative. Father Brian was a founding instructor in, and later chaired, the Visual Arts program at Sheridan College, Oakville Campus.
Les unknowingly began his career while earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Guelph. On the side, he created custom computer programs, designed diagrams, maps and typeset presentations for fellow students. He formalized Vertexxa on graduating and operated the design and commercial printing company from the basement of his childhood home.
When the Internet struck, it presented a new canvass for a vivid imagination. Vertexxa rapidly moved into computer and web design and the basement printing presses were silenced. An exciting time and a welcome distraction from the recent loss of his father and new illness of his mother, both thanks to Cancer.
Imagination evolved into innovation in 2005 when Vertexxa and Brent Barr’s Kire Company formed a new branding and design agency, Falcon Innovation Group. Today it continues creating and expanding client’s identities through a great mix of branding and design steeped in the tradition of imagination.
Les manages and directs the now virtual company from that same basement it was born in almost 20 years ago. From there he heads a global team of hand-selected design and creative specialists who help him deliver creative client projects. With wife Laura and their pets Spike and Abby, they are active in the fight against cancer which has plagued both their lives. Sometimes, maybe during a full moon, one can sometimes hear the distinct rustle of Lego blocks wafting through the night air.
